MR Bhutto most powerful Prime minister of this country was rejuvenated by the welcome he got on his visit to Multan and it just took a moment for him to decide who will be his new Chief of Army staff. A general ranked seventh in seniority was chosen as chief of Army staff called Zia-ul-Haq.
Same seventh ranked general not only toppled his master’s government but also sent him to the gallows. If you overlook six most seniors and digg your personal choice for a top position by passing merit,then who are you to blame other then yourself.

20 years on,another powerful PM faces the challenge of appointment of new Chief of army staff but this time his advisers and cronies put a name from behind as he was their personal choice and had personal ties with general, Crushing the merit once again, PM appointed a back benched general which not only fought a war by himself but also overthrow his master’s government and nearly sent him to the gallows.
Nine year rule of bloody general put at stake every thing this country possesses and very sovereignty of it is being challenged and his personal friendship with a superpower President resulted in killings of his countless innocent countrymen.
Another 12 years on,and yet another powerful PM is facing the challenge of whether to extend the army chief tenure suppressing the right of a new man at top position or give top position to him.
Predictions have started on this hot topic and it seems from PM statements he will extend the tenure of the Chief of army staff against the law of land.
The big question arises why our top men don’t give merit a priority and this not only destroyed the institutions but have also resulted in the debacle of their successive governments.
Immediate answer came to mind is ,Are these political leaders themselves a production of merit ? No,because they are here because their father was a great leader,their wife was a great leader ,their father was a wealthy land lord. So there is no reason to wonder why merit is always crushed in this country.
Now instead of blaming others for their governments debacles and incomplete tenures ,our leaders should face the sentence of their vices because hey are the victims of their vices.
