It is exactly a year now when police used the brute state force on lawyers and journalists when they launched a protest against the illegal candidacy of Musharraf for Presidential elections.
There was huge media presence and reporters from foreign countries were also there to cover the protest.
It was the day of scrutiny of papers filed by different Presidential nominees in election commission and lawyers gave a protest call after Supreme court dismissed the petition reviewing the candidacy of Musharraf while being in uniform.
It was a horrible day, when lawyers procession reached election commission office it tried to storm into the main building . Police guarded with helmets and sticks started beating the lawyers and several lawyers were wounded in the head and were bleeding which were taken to the near by hospital.
Later police fired tear gas shells to disperse the crowd and also blocked the road from both sides forcing the protectors to take refuge inside the main building of Supreme court. Many protectors were forced to break the fast due to severe problem in breathing due to tear gas.
Early morning which the most distinguished personality i met was that of legendary urdu poet Ahmed Faraz who was deeply hurt by tear gas and soon departed from the scene.
Other personalities i met was Ali Ahmed Kurd ,Ayaz Ameer, Advocate Iqbal Haider . Other then meeting such great personalities i also got the chance to visit the Supreme court building from inside.
I and my frienfd got refuge in the tents in the parking adjacent to supreme court building area.
I and we all were proud at the time that we have got back Iftikhar CH restored as our Chief Justice and he will do the justice to all those responsible and very next day being the Sunday he took the sou-motto action of this rude incident.
But our joy was short- lived when bloody military general sacked Chief Justice Iftikhar CH and 60 other judges of supreme court and high court on the gloomy evening of Nov,3rd by imposing emergency and issuing new PCO.
