Pakistan Political scene heating up: A local perspective

Pakistan political scene

Pakistan, a country with so called civil government in place since 2008 is going to complete its four year in power (Though it is a different question what power it has). Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) led coalition government in Federal and other three provinces has done little to bring any change for better for the people of Pakistan.

As the next general elections time is approaching near soon all the political parties are heating up their campaign for a decisive victory to form a new government that can do something good for its people.

Pakistan People Party led coalition government is facing serious doubts over its credibility and its ability to tackle the issues from the common man of Pakistan though it is yet to be seen to what extent PPP suffer loss in elections.

PPP Once a strong party in times of Late Benazir Bhutto is facing worst threats since its creation, threats of being uprooted in elections as loyal people are constantly leaving it, Former Federal Ministry Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Former Interior Minister Sindh Dr Zulfiqar Mirza are just two examples of these three years who have dissented from the vested policies of some top men in the PPP and are now likely to join the opponents for a wide range of issues.

PPP main rival is PML-N in Punjab; it is also being targeted by a new political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf called (PTI) led by Imran Khan who is calling to people for uprooting the corrupt and incompetent PML-N from Punjab. Analysts believe Mr Khan is quickly gaining ground over PML-N and if he continues to go like this way he could possibly wipe out N league from Punjab.

While PPP former Interior minister Zulfiqar Mirza is going to very limit to push MQM out from Karachi and for PPP to gain some healthy political scene in Karachi as well, MQM seems afraid of Mirza who has just been a most dreadful dream for it ever since its creation by a former military dictator of Pakistan.

Karachi target killings are though lowered after the interference of Supreme Court in the sad affair, according to many this halt in violence is not permanent and can start any time again.

Many are seemed even disgusted with the recent verdict of Supreme Court in which it just took no concrete step to stop violence permanently in Pakistan economic hub. Supreme Court in its verdict does not even call on government for solid steps to ensure violence doesn’t erupt again.

MQM recent confessions of accepting arrested Ajmal Pahari and other target killers are enough to ban this so called political party but Supreme Court took no notice of the Joint Investigation Team reports submitted to it.

Supreme Court would have to be proactive on Karachi issue to avoid bloodshed in Pakistan economic hub and should dictate the government because it lacks any will to take a stern action against its allied party killers.
