Gillani Murders Merit, Justice

Prime Minister Gillani has announced three year extension for Chief of Army Staff  General Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani against the law of the land and in clear violation of merit and fair play.

According to constitution of Pakistan the tenure of chief of Army Staff of Pakistan is of  three years and extension of only one year can be granted by the government. So isn’t this this the violation of constitution of Pakistan?

General Kiyani the the successor of Pakistan’s former military dictator Pervez Musharraf  was sworn in as Army chief in November 2007 after years of pressure on Musharraf to step down from military post. Unlike his predecessor Kayani supported the civilian government and called back all military officers working in civilian departments of the country. This step not only enhanced the integrity and respect of arm forces but also got wide appreciation for army chief as well.

It has been no easy time for Kiyani fighting insurgency and militancy on western borders first in Swat and Malakand and now in South Waziristan facing a tough resistance.

Military targets are being attacked throughout the country . Oct 10 09 attack on GHQ and Parade Lane Mosque attack on Dec 04 10 are worst case scenarios for arm forces of Pakistan. Yet our forces are fighting brave fight and making new tales of brevity ,resistance and devotion to the cause.

Keeping all these factors in mind does not mean that we only have one man to lead at this time. We must not surrender this country to our personal choices and kill merit ,discipline and rule of law for the sake of one man. Time moves on so as the leaders and Nations.

If Gen .McCrystal can be sacked then why not Gen.Kiyani can be retired ,Isn’t it shows how much respect our politicians have for Merit,fair play and law of land?
