Once again Pakistan courts are topic of discussion every where in the country. News reached to the media through an unknown source created such a panic in the country that epic court had to suspend all routine hearings the following day and called a full 17 member bench to ascertain the matter.
Judiciary in Pakistan has been a source of News since March 9, 2007 when a military President Pervez Musharraf sacked Chief Justice of Supreme Court which followed a historical movement to restore Chief Justice on his position finally doing so on July 20, 2007.
Chief Justice along with other Judges of superior courts was again sacked on Nov, 3 2007 after imposition of emergency in the country. The saga eventually ended after year and a half on March 16, 2009 when situation was reversed to Nov, 2, 2007 through an executive order.
Pakistan Constitution allows sacking of superior court judges only under article 209 and every other method to sack the judges will be a violation of the constitution. On Nov, 3rd, 2007 article 209 was never promulgated hence sacking of all judges was against the law of the land.
The situation was tense once again days prior to the March, 16, 2007 when government had to reverse the situation to Nov, 2, 2007 but not one in violation of Constitution.
One last breaking news about judiciary was in Feb 2010 regarding the promotion of Lahore High Court Judge Saqib Nisar to Supreme Court.
This is the latest episode of another Judiciary related Breaking News. Though benefactors and sources of News are unknown to general public yet but it certainly created panic achieving its main purpose.
But the bigger question remains whether this matter affects general public or general public has anything to do with these matters:
I think yes, Public must be aware of every thing happening in the country and public anticipation is necessary in all the state matters and decisions. Democracy demands public awareness at a greater level and its duty of media to keep public aware of every thing and every development in the country.
