ATTENTION ! MS. PAMELA CONSTABLE, WASHINGTON POST, WASHINGTON D.C, USA

Jun 25, 2009 Comments Off by abid ali

With reference to Ms Pamela’s article in Daily “Washington Post” headed by “Pakistan’s Plans for new fight stir concern” published on 24th of June, 2009. It was about Swat refugees and battle insurgents in Tribal South Waziristan.

In this article, she fabricated Taliban as “well-armed Islamic Insurgents” and “Other violate Islamic groups”. No doubt, she is a good writer but there are some codal ethics for whole journalistic community, which bounds journalists to coin authenticity and neutrality in their articles.

Mostly journalists are formatting them as “Talibaans”, neither Islamic insurgents nor other violent Islamic groups. Scattering the history and analyzing current scenario, nobody can pick the decision that which powers are behind the scene. I would also like to  insert that the Army, moving into battlefield, is also Islamic but not an Islamic violent group.

Creating neutrality and authenticity in news are the basic elements of journalism. Is  this authenticity that every insurgent is Muslim and making incursion from a Muslim territory or just covering Muslim formation? Is this called neutrality, to write every group and person an Islamic insurgent and violent Islamic group just for perishing Islamism and Islamic Ideology in the world? It is a spinning question for the whole journalist community that what is the real journalism?
