Punjab chief minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has inaugurated Air conditioned CNG bus service in Lahore. Initially 30 buses will be started on different routes and in coming two years 2000 AC CNG buses will be routed in big cities of Punjab.
This is a public private venture and private transporters will be given 25 percent relief on import of these buses , more over a cut in excise duty on import.
This is a first big step for the welfare of general public and it must lessen public reliance on private transport.
Such progammes should be launched at federal level throughout the country for the welfare of general public in all four provinces.
As far as budget for this programme is concerned, cut on ministers ,MNAs,MPAs incomes and levish facilities provided to them is best solution.

An old idea not worth talking about. Sorry cannot get excited about buses being given to favorites.
We have all heard about these schemes. every government announces them They go nowhere. The last such bus service still plods along uselessly.
But the more important item that we should be discussing is that fact that the punjab government has done what no dictator was able to do. The have walled off an entire section of Lahore for their personal pleasure. GOR has been walled off taking over land from private property. Roads that have been used for years by ordinary citizens have been seald off. All in the name of seucrity for the CM and his civil service. Such high handed abuse of power is seldom seen.
Yet bolgs and the media are silent.
Can some on tell me what law allows them to do this?
Is their security so important that they can destroy traffic flows and private property?
Why should their security matter more than the rest of us?
How much money is this going to cost?
The police deployed here (and they are deployed in large numbers) will obviously not be involved in securing ordinary citizens! Is that a judicious use of resources/
Is this what we should expect from our democratically elected leaders?
Why is the web silent? Are we too numbed by abuse?
