15 Reasons Why Pakistan Don’t Need Musharraf

Pervez Musharraf, since his re-entry into politics on Oct, 1, 2010 has been a controversial figure and a topic of Pakistan electronic media and almost every channel has interviewed him and kept him hot in the news.

We witnessed eight years of Musharraf as the sole ruler of Pakistan and most of us will agree that Musharraf damage to this country is far more than his positive work.

Here are 15 reasons why we don’t need Musharraf any more in this country as a ruler:

1) Absence of Rule of Law: Musharaf who came to power as a result of a bloodless coup on oct12, 99 took all illegal steps to maintain and strengthen his grip on power. Moreover, he is the only military ruler of the country who imposed Marshal Law twice and dethroned judiciary twice I.e. March 9, 2007 and Nov 3rd 2007.

2) Wrong Economic Policies: Musharraf economic policies though brought money to the country for some but it made poor even poorer and created an economic balloon which diffused as soon as his rule ended resulting in mass sudden inflation that put country again into the shackles of IMF.

3) Killings and Exile of Political Leaders: Musharaf reigned in the absence of both public leaders Benazir and Nawaz Sahrif. Moreover Baloch Nationalist leader Akber Bugti was murdered on orders of Musharraf.

4) Compromising National Sovereignty: Musharaf Compromised on National sovereignty of our country. Americans were provided with air bases to attack our brotherly country” Afghanistan”. American drones attacked Pakistan and these attacks still go on. Pakistan and Afghan Nationals were handed over to Americans.

5) Introduction of foreign culture: Musharraf on American demand introduced Indian and Western culture in the country in which women were made a product for entertainment and foul play instead of dignity and respect. Keeping beard for men was made a symbol of terrorists and Anti-Pakistan.

6) Massacre of Innocent children: Musharraf not only destroyed the Holy place of Worship for Muslims called “Mosque”,Lal Masjid, But killed hundred of innocent kids who were there for only study purpose.

7) Harm to the federation: Musharraf steps brought harm for the federation of Pakistan. People stood up for arm fights in places like Baluchistan and FATA. Centralization of power brought great harm for our federation.

8) Compromise on Principle Stand: Musharraf not only compromised on our National principle stand on the issue of Kashmir but also halted the support of Kashmiries by Pakistan which harmed Pakistan status as a friendly country for kashmiries world wide.

9) National Lack of Direction and Ideology: Musharaf rule made Pakistan a country walking on no ideology. Our basic ideology was to toe the American line and turning Pakistan from an Islamic country to a Secular Country in all the wrong sense of the meaning.

10) Deteorating Relations with Islamic Countries: Fulfilling American agenda, Musharraf steps resulted in weak diplomatic ties with Islamic countries. Pakistan was asked to fight American war in Iraq but saved by a Civilian Prime Minister.

11) Media Restrictions: Though Musharraf brought all new electronic media in Pakistan but it was Musharraf also who closed this entire media when it showed the reality to the public. Private channels were shut down resulting in millions of rupees of losses to the owners and disgrace of Pakistan world wide.

12) Attacks on Religious Schools: Madrassah’s were raided in the days after 9-11 on American orders to pick the selected people wanted by Americans. This step not only resulted in wrong image of Musharraf in public but also resulted in Public outrage by religious organizations.

13) BY Passing the Parliament: Though  Musharaf regime too had a so-called elected Parliament but it was made no more than a rubber stamp Parliament with Musharraf as sole man to give orders and Parliament done no more to pass those orders.

14) Constitution Amendments and Ordinances Of Own Choices: Musharraf strengthened his grip on power by passing constitutional amendments of his choice i.e. 17th Amendment which gave cover to the illegal steps of Oct 12,99 .

15) Local Body Institutions Brought Massive Corruption: Musharraf introduced local bodies system in 2002. The so called non-party based elections of local bodies were held but actually the people of ruling party were selected as the Nazims and Naib-Nazims of the cities which gave room to corruption and nepotism.

A look on these steps clearly shows that his positive work for the country is greatly over shadowed by bloodiest and darkest days in Pakistan history in his Nine year rule as a dictator.
